The Spirit of Goodwill Band Holiday Concert 2023

On December 2nd, The Spirit of Goodwill Band, an extraordinary ensemble of remarkable vocalist and talented musicians, took center stage in heartwarming concert at the stunning New World Center in Miami Beach. Established in 1987 by Goodwill Industries of South Florida to enhance the social and recreational skills of individuals with disabilities, this band has become a beacon of inspiration within our community, capturing what's possible when the emphasis is placed on ability rather than disability. 

The band's members, each possessing unique talents, came together to create a musical showcase that had everyone singing along to their favorites from every decade. The concert featured a delightful mix of oldies, goldies, and tunes to help usher in the holiday spirit. 

This year, the band also partnered with Karen Peterson Dancers, a dedicated troupe committed to physically integrated dance. These talented dancers, through their graceful movements, challenged and reshaped audience expectations of performers' capabilities - highlighting the importance of recognizing and celebrating the abilities of those with mental and physical impairments.

We extend heartfelt thanks to all who gathered in support of our musicians. It was truly a night we'll never forget. The Spirit of Goodwill Band stands as a living embodiment of Goodwill South Florida's mission to empower individuals with disabilities to form social bonds, connect with enriching opportunities, and forge meaningful identities within their communities.
