Goodwill South Florida Announces the Appointment of Six New Board Members

MIAMI, FL. (Oct. 9, 2020) – Goodwill South Florida has announced the appointment of six new members of its Board of Directors: Danet Linares, Mark Sessions, Michael Elkin, Rodney Barreto, Ruth Brophy, Sophia Galvin.


Danet Linares is a real estate professional passionate about commercial development, real estate, leasing and marketing. She is currently Vice Chairman of Blanca Commercial Real Estate, Inc. and has more than 25 years of experience in the commercial real estate industry. She currently serves as Board Member of Miami Downtown Development Authority, Incoming President and Board Member of International Women’s Forum, Board Member of The Miami Center for Architecture & Design, Board Member of Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce, and now Board Member of Goodwill South Florida.

Mark Sessions, MBA, CSM is a business professional passionate about people and business improvement, with an expertise in transforming businesses by leveraging all available resources; people, process, time, investment and technology.  He is currently a Digital Program Controller at Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd., as well as Executive Producer of RABBIT HOLE SOUL PODCAST, powered by 855SOULJAM.GLOBAL which he is Founder of. He now serves as Board Member of Goodwill South Florida.


Michael P. Elkin, CPA is a forensic accounting professional passionate about fair play, equal  opportunities in education and employment, and social justice. He is currently the forensic, advisory and valuation services practice leader and a principal at Kaufman Rossin & Co. For more than 30 years, he has provided business consulting, forensic accounting, litigation consulting and expert witness testimony in the areas of financial investigations, economic damages, insurance claims, business valuation, intellectual property infringement, breach of contract, professional liability, and complex accounting, finance and business matters. He has served on the board of directors of Breakthrough Miami since 2002, on the campaign committee of Legal Services of Greater Miami  and is now a Board Member of Goodwill South Florida.


Rodney Barreto is a public affairs and real estate professional passionate about consulting, health care data management and wildlife conservation. He is currently the President and CEO of The Barreto Group, Inc. and was a City of Miami Police officer before pursuing his career in public affairs and real estate. He currently serves as a member of the Florida Council of 100, Mayor Gimenez’s Business Roundtable, Superintendent Carvalho’s Business Advisory Council, Baptist Hospital Foundation, Tarpon Trust and Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation and now Board Member of Goodwill South Florida.


Ruth V. Brophy, CPA is an accounting professional passionate about women empowerment in business and entrepreneurship, with an expertise in Finance and Administration. She is the recently retired Chief Financial and Administrative Officer for the SEC-registered private equity firm, H.I.G. Capital. She continues to serve H.I.G. Capital as a Senior Advisor and investment company board representative. She currently serves as a Board Director to the Babson College Women’s WIN Labs Entrepreneurial Accelerator, Director/Treasurer for the National Association of Corporate Directors – Florida Chapter, and now Board Member of Goodwill South Florida.


Sophia Galvin is a human resources professional passionate about creating work environments where everyone is celebrated and can learn and grow. She has over 20 years of Human Resources functional experience with ten of those years in leadership roles within retail, healthcare, and higher education. She is currently the Executive Director of Talent and Culture (Human Resources) at Broward College. She has served as the Board Member for Women’s Fund of Miami-Dade, Vice-Chair for the Florida State Minority Development Council, MED Week chair for the Minority Enterprise Development Agency, and now Board Member of Goodwill South Florida.
