Goodwill Industries of South Florida has decided to increase production to 200 flags per day to meet the demands of the community's response to Fidel Castro's death.
The Goodwill Flag Center has always sewn the cuban flags and other flags in it's retail location in Allapattah. Since, the flags are produced locally, Lourdes de la Mata-Little, VP of Marketing says, "the flags will be made as quickly as possible to increase the daily production of 3’x 5’ cuban flags for the next few weeks to meet demand. We're prepared to take orders if the demand is greater than the supply."
Goodwill will also make these flags available in most of their Miami Goodwill Stores starting tomorrow (Wednesday). The Little Havana store located at 982 SW 8 St. is the closest store to where the mid-week rally is prepared to gather on Wednesday at 5pm and will also carry the flags.
Goodwill has seen an increase in sales in just one day and anticipates many more requests for cuban flags.
The 3’ x 5’ flags are priced at $10 and the car window flags are priced at $5.
There are more cuban flags of different sizes but those will be sold specifically at the Goodwill Flag Center located at 2111 N.W. 21 Ave.
All proceeds of the flag sales will benefit Goodwill's mission of training, employment and job placement for people with disabilities and special needs while at the same time helping the members of our community express themselves and wave that flag as a symbol of the love of their country.
de la Mata-Little adds, “Although our main production of flags are U.S. flags, we have made available a number of cuban flags to sell to the public as a symbol of solidarity and to do our part to provide a service to the community.”
