David Landsberg, President & CEO of Goodwill South Florida, Recognized at South Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Sustainability & Green Visionary Awards Luncheon

Miami, FL – August X, 2024 – Goodwill South Florida is proud to announce that David Landsberg, our President and CEO, has been honored with the Green Visionary Award at the South Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce’s (SFLHCC) Annual Sustainability & Green Visionary Awards Luncheon. The award recognizes individuals and organizations making a real difference in environmental and sustainable causes

Under Landsberg’s leadership, Goodwill South Florida has made significant strides in reducing textile waste and protecting our environment. He has been instrumental in spearheading our partnerships with local hospitality and cruise lines to create programs that divert their textile waste, and has led our collaboration with recycling experts to develop innovative methods for transforming these materials into new products.

As a result, we divert 54 million pounds of waste from local landfills each year—everything from gently used clothing and textiles to plastics and wood. These items are repurposed, resold, and used to support our community programs—especially those helping individuals with disabilities and other barriers to employment find meaningful work. What’s truly inspiring is that much of this work is carried out by individuals with disabilities, directly connecting our environmental efforts to empowering the people in our community.

Landsberg was recognized alongside other influential leaders, including Peter Yeo from the United Nations Foundation, who is driving sustainability on a global scale. Together, these efforts show how local initiatives like ours at Goodwill South Florida contribute to broader environmental goals worldwide.
